Energy

How does energy work?

Each Kāyū day starts at 10 energy. Logging an activity or a symptom spends its energy cost, an energy change with no reason spends 1 to 9, and a nap can give up to 9 back when it ends. The balance always stays between 1 and 10: a spend that would go below 1 stops at 1, and later rest can raise the day again.

How do I log energy?

Tap Energy on Today, or + on the Energy card. Choose a reason first. Activity is the default: pick one of yours or one of the everyday activities built in, and its usual cost fills in. Symptom works the same way with your symptom list. No reason spends 1 to 9 without tying it to anything. Change the cost if today was different, then tap Log.

Where do activity and symptom costs come from?

Each of your activities and symptoms has a usual energy cost, from 1 to 10. Set it under Logs → Activities or Logs → Symptoms. The built-in activities have no usual cost, so you choose one each time. Changing a usual cost doesn’t change anything you’ve already logged.

Does a night’s sleep change my energy?

No. A night’s sleep is what the day starts from, so it never adds or takes energy. A nap can restore up to 9, added to the day when the nap ends.

Logging

Why does my day start at 4 AM?

A Kāyū day runs from 4:00 AM to the next 4:00 AM in your timezone, so a late night still counts as the day you lived it. Sleep belongs to the morning you wake up. Your timezone is under More → Account.

Can I log something I forgot earlier?

Yes. Every log has a time: tap Now and choose when it happened. To look at or fix an earlier day, use the arrows at the top of each log screen. Tap any entry to edit it, or swipe it to delete.

How do I take a group of medications?

Add your medications under Logs → Medications, then create groups such as Morning and Bedtime. To log a dose, tap Medication on Today and choose a group or single medications, or tap Take Morning on the Medications card. Each dose keeps the dosage you took, so editing a medication later doesn’t rewrite your history.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes. Kāyū saves your logs to your account as you make them, so you can see them on the web too. If you’re offline, the app tells you and nothing is saved. Buttons on widgets are the exception: what you log from a widget is kept on your iPhone and sent the next time Kāyū opens.

Reminders and widgets

How do I set up reminders?

Open More → Reminders. You can turn on water, medication, sleep and energy reminders and choose their times. iOS asks for permission to send notifications the first time. Reminders are skipped when you’ve already logged that thing: water once you reach your target, medications when you’ve just taken them, and sleep once it’s logged.

My reminders stopped.

Kāyū schedules a week of reminders at a time on your iPhone. If you don’t open the app for a week, they stop until you open it again. Also check that notifications for Kāyū are on in the Settings app → Notifications → Kāyū.

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, and search for Kāyū. There are widgets for energy, water, sleep and medications, and a large one with all four. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, and add Kāyū to the widget area.

Your account and data

Can I use Kāyū on the web?

Yes. Sign in at app.kayu.health with the same email and password. The web app edits the same records, with roomier tables and forms, charts and export.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in screen, enter your email and tap Forgot password?. We’ll email you a link to choose a new one. If you signed up with Sign in with Apple, keep using that button instead.

How do I export my data?

On iPhone, open More → Export and tap Share CSV. On the web, open Export and download the file. You get one CSV, named kayu_data_ and the date, with one row per event.

How do I change my water or sleep target?

Open More → Settings on iPhone, or Settings on the web. Today’s Water and Sleep cards measure against these targets.

How do I delete my account?

On iPhone, open More → Account and tap Delete account. On the web, open Account. This permanently deletes your account and everything you’ve logged. It can’t be undone, so export first if you want a copy. See the privacy policy for details.

Is Kāyū medical advice?

No. Kāyū is a personal log. It doesn’t diagnose, treat or give medical advice, and an association between a symptom and a medication is your own note, not a finding. Talk to a clinician about your health; your export can help that conversation.
